"NATO is a key element of the global security. Today the world is in complete chaos. We need stability. And stability is the unity of all NATO members. And the time will come when Ukraine will become a NATO member state,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Chairman of the Kyiv Security Forum, Prime Minister of Ukraine in 2014-16 stated during the KSF discussion on June 19.
"Strong dictatorships are formed only because of the weakness of democracies. The weaker we are, the stronger autocrats and dictators become. The best method for Putin to maintain his autocratic regime is to divide Europe, divide NATO, and weaken strong relations between Ukraine and the United States,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.
In 2008, Arseniy Yatsenyuk recalled, as the Speaker of the parliament, he was one of the signatories of the appeal to NATO to provide Ukraine with a Membership Action Plan: “We are very grateful to the Alliance for recognizing Ukraine as NATO's Enhanced Opportunities Partner. But we are convinced that the appeal to provide Ukraine with a Membership Action Plan in 2008 will be heard. And together we will make the free world stronger, more united and prosperous.”
He reminded that after NATO recognized Ukraine as one of the Enhanced Opportunities Partner, the Kremlin expressed concerns about the security in Europe: "If Russia says that, then we have made the right decision.”
Kyiv Security Forum is Ukraine’s foremost platform for high-level international discussion about peace and security. Kyiv Security Forum was founded by the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation in 2007.
