Anti-russian, anti-imperialist lustration is needed – Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the KSF

“Supporting the russian dictatorship in Ukraine is not a sign of democracy, it is a sign of a criminal offense,” Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the head of the Kyiv Security Forum, Prime Minister of Ukraine 2014-2016 stressed during the KBF in Kyiv on December 1.

“In Russia, the NKVS transformed into the FSB, but the essence remained the same. Stalin became putin, but the essence remained the same. Stalin’s Soviet chauvinist ideology has been replaced by the putin's new imperialism, but the essence remained the same,” he emphasized.

“Ukraine is a trauma for all Russian dictators," he added.

According to Arseniy Yatsenyuk, a ban should be introduced at the legislative level for support of russian aggression, “no matter be it support of any pro-russian parties, or support of any pro-russian ideology.” It is just as unacceptable as failure to recognize the Holodomor as genocide.

“This should be introduced within the legal framework. Denial of russian aggression, denial of torture, denial of russian imperialism, denial that the Holodomor was an act of genocide, denial of war crimes must all be prosecuted by law. And people having such views must have no place in the Ukrainian legislative body and in the Ukrainian government. This should be a new lustration effort – an anti-russian one, and an anti-imperialist one,” the head of the KBF emphasized.
