“Russian propaganda and fakes against Ukraine demand a very tough and speedy backlash from all mass media. russians attack Ukraine on all fronts – internally and externally”.
This was the message of Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Kyiv Security Forum Chair, Prime Minister of Ukraine in 2014-2016, at a panel discussion War of Words (WAR of WORDS: how to counter propaganda facts) at the Youth Kyiv Security Forum currently held in the capital city of Ukraine.
“Propaganda and lies are easily-sold commodities. It is truth that is most difficult to sell”, - he underlined.
The KSF Chair also emphasized the importance of reaching out to foreign audiences, as Russia spares no effort to disseminate its propaganda across the Western audiences: “Our key allies remain under unimaginable propaganda pressure”.
At this backdrop, it is vital to “equilibrate protection of the freedom of speech”, so that to escape the situation when truth is curtailed when fighting against lies, Arseniy Yatsenyuk argued.
