The key task of the newly appointed government is to prepare the country for a harsh winter, as Putin is already planning a new campaign of attacks on the energy sector. This was stated by Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Сhairman of the Kyiv Security Forum and Prime Minister of Ukraine from 2014 to 2016, in an interview with journalist Dmytro Gordon.

“The coming winter will be harsh. We must prepare for it. That is why a new prime minister was appointed, and this is his key responsibility,” Yatsenyuk emphasized.

He noted that Russia is already preparing a military campaign for the fall and winter. “Putin will be stockpiling resources. I am convinced that, given all the experience of the war over the past four years, they are now planning new strikes on energy and military facilities, as well as on the country’s vital infrastructure and logistics,” the KSF Chairman stressed.

At the same time, Yatsenyuk noted that despite the challenging situation, the current balance of power is favorable for Ukraine yet unfavorable for Russia. However, a turning point has not yet been reached.

“A turning point will come when we liberate territories the way we did in 2022,” said the Chairman of the KSF.

According to him, Ukraine’s victory means the preservation of the Ukrainian state, Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO, and the strengthening of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since this is the key guarantee of Ukraine’s security. “No one else in the modern world would give any other security guarantees,” Yatsenyuk emphasized. In his view, the factors that will ensure victory include a strong domestic military-industrial complex capable of supplying the Ukrainian army with new weapons, as well as an economy supported by a new “Marshall Plan.”

In assessing the current situation, Yatsenyuk identified the key shift that occurred after the U.S. president’s meeting with Putin in Anchorage: Ukraine did not yield to pressure and stood its ground, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s rhetoric regarding Ukraine has changed dramatically.

“What is happening today in Russia – with its energy sector, economy, military, and population – is completely unexpected for Putin. And Ukraine today finds itself in a completely different situation, whether in factual terms or in the media’s perception around the world,” Yatsenyuk added.

At the same time, he said, there are no preconditions for a ceasefire or peace talks, since for Putin, the war is a matter of political and physical survival.
